The Saudi Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has activated the e-court initiative at 5 courts and 5 prisons in an effort to streamline and digitize procedures.
“We’ve launched the initiative at the criminal courts of Riyadh, Makkah, Dammam, Jeddah and Jazan,” the ministry explained. “the court held a number of e-trials pertaining to several prisoners”.
“The remote trials were completed through 68 e-courts enabling video-conferencing among courts, prisons, and other judicial entities such as the Unified Translation Center,” the ministry said.
“ we are trying to minimize the need for prisoners transfers to courts, hence, we are currently working to launch e-trial centers in main cities across the Kingdom,” The ministry added.
