In the past three months; the Saudi enforcement judiciary has received 71 applications for enforcing foreign rulings, for a total of SAR 288 million ($ 76 million), revealed the Saudi Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
The Eastern Region topped the list with 31 claims, for a total of SAR 200 million; followed by Riyadh with 19 claims, for a total of SAR 51 million; and Makkah with 11 claims, for a total of SAR 36.7 million.
According to the ministry, the speedy procedures and processing of such applications helped the Saudi judiciary’s international standing in the firm enforcement of foreign rulings.
Saudi enforcement courts enforce foreign judgments based on reciprocity, in compliance with international treaties and conventions. Such rulings are recognized as enforcement instruments when they fulfill the requirements of the Enforcement Law and its regulations.
